Attorneys Representing Clients In The Upper Peninsula Of Michigan: Serving Clients In The U.P. & Beyond

For more than 40 years, Bahrie Law, PLLC has been fighting for the rights of individuals and families throughout the state of Michigan. We are proud to represent clients in the Upper Peninsula in complex Social Security disability matters. In fact, one of our Social Security Disability paralegals works from her home office in Republic.

Da’ UP  has several distinct designations: The Western End, the Eastern End, Central, or Copper Country, but when talking about locations, we generally talk about the most centralized area of Marquette County or Dickenson County. While Escanaba, Marquette, St Ignace, Iron Mountain, and Soo St Marie are the most well-known cities, there are lots of beautiful places in between. Make sure when searching for a law firm, make sure you look for local affiliations and desired reputation eh’’.

At Bahrie Law, PLLC, our mission is simple: to provide clients with the personalized attention they deserve and the aggressive advocacy they need. We have earned a reputation as a firm that won’t back down from a challenge. We know the Social Security Administration and Administrative Law Judges well, and we know how to navigate the various issues that apply to your case. Most importantly, we are here to serve as your guide, providing you with the information you need and to assist at every stage of your case.

We offer free initial consultations to all new and prospective clients; call us at 888-473-1289 to schedule yours today.

Bahrie Law, PLLC will assist you from application through your Hearing before an ALJ

The application process for starting a disability claim whether SSI or SSDI starts with filing an application online or at your local Social Security office. If you are north of the Mackinac Bridge, there are five local field offices that manage all of the cases in the UP. You can complete an application over the phone or in person at one of the following address

  • Ironwood: 213 S Marquette St., Ironwood, Michigan 49938;
  • Marquette: 101 W Washington St., Marquette, Michigan 49855
  • Sault St. Marie: 2861 Ashmun St., Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan 49783
  • Houghton: 902 Razorback Drive, Houghton Michigan 49931;
  • Escanaba: 1013 1st North, Escanaba, Michigan 49829.

The most convenient way to file your application is online. Give us a call for a free evaluation of your claim and if your case is ready to be filed, we will be happy to assist you preparing the necessary information and filing your application on your behalf. This way we are ready to appeal any denial throughout the application stages timely. If you miss a deadline for appeal, you have to start the entire process form scratch. We will make sure that your appeal is done timely as well as correctly.

Many cases are denied on application and require appealing to be heard by an Administrative Law Judge. Like many things in Upper Michigan, the closest office location is in Wisconsin rather than Michigan. The Office of Hearings Operations (OHO) that handles all Social Security Disability hearings for residents of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Those hearings are held primarily by phone or video. Logistically, this allows our skilled disability attorneys to assist in cases throughout upper Michigan without having cost prohibitive travel expenses.

At Bahrie Law, PLLC we start framing the theory to your case from the first phone call and start preparing to win your case. Preparation is extremely important with disability cases as the ALJ’s base a significant portion of their decision on the administrative record (evidence that is submitted through out your case). Preparation for your hearing is crucial as well so that you know what topics are most important to win your case and what will not make a difference. We review every case with our clients prior to the hearing and present a mock trial to prepare our clients for the types of questions a Judge may ask so that you are more comfortable answering questions accurately and detailed enough to give you the best chance of winning your case at a hearing.

Our dedication to each of our clients as an individual person and human with a life story is what sets us apart from the rest.
