How Long Do You Have to File a Personal Injury Claim in Michigan?
Like other states, Michigan has a statute of limitations on personal injury lawsuits. The “statute of limitations” is the legal term for the amount of time you have to file your claim, and in Michigan, it is three years. Typically, the “clock” begins ticking, so to speak, on the date of the accident or injury. However, in some cases, the injury is not discovered immediately. When this happens, the statute of limitations begins on the date the injury was discovered or reasonably could have discovered.
