We offer free initial consultations and contingency fees for all personal injury cases, meaning you do not pay unless we win your case! Call 888-473-1289 or contact us online to get started.

Types of Cases We Handle

We dedicate a large portion of our practice to representing clients in personal injury and wrongful death claims.

Our areas of practice include:

  • Personal injury, including motor vehicle accidents, slip and falls, and medical malpractice
  • Workers’ compensation claims, including permanent total disability and denied claims
  • Social Security disability claims, including both SSDI and SSI claims and appeals

Facing any legal challenge can be incredibly stressful and overwhelming. Depending on your situation, your physical well-being, financial stability, and very future might be on the line. At Bahrie Law, we understand what you are up against—and we know what it takes to effectively advocate for you.

How Long Do You Have to File a Personal Injury Claim in Michigan?

Like other states, Michigan has a statute of limitations on personal injury lawsuits. The “statute of limitations” is the legal term for the amount of time you have to file your claim, and in Michigan, it is three years. Typically, the “clock” begins ticking, so to speak, on the date of the accident or injury. However, in some cases, the injury is not discovered immediately. When this happens, the statute of limitations begins on the date the injury was discovered or reasonably could have discovered.

What to Do if You Are Injured at Work

If you are injured in a workplace accident or while carrying out any activities related to the scope of your employment, you are likely entitled to workers’ compensation. Workers’ compensation is a no-fault system—meaning you do not need to prove liability to file a claim—that covers nearly all employees in the state of Michigan.

If you are injured at work, do the following:

  • Seek medical attention right away; call 911 if necessary
  • Notify your employer immediately but no more than 90 days after the injury
  • Make sure your employer files an Employer’s Basic Report of Injury (Form 100)
  • Follow your doctor’s treatment plan, including work restrictions
  • Contact a workers’ compensation lawyer in Redford for help with disputes

If you encounter any issues when filing for workers’ compensation—such as disputes from your employer or their insurance company—reach out to a lawyer right away. An attorney can help you protect your rights and ensure that you do not make any mistakes that could jeopardize your benefits.
